Brevard County Bar Association Committees
Executive Committee
The role of the Executive Committee is to help the Board accomplish its work in the most efficient way. The Committee facilitates decision making in between Board meetings or in the case of a crisis or other urgent circumstances. Specific members of the Executive Committee also liaise with the various committees and/or elected officers as appropriate.
CLE Committee
The CLE Committee is focused on the delivery of high quality, mission-focusedContinuing Legal Education by advising on content, speakers, and delivery models, andby helping to identify trends and gaps in legal education. This committee specifically provides guidance on the following:

Special Events Committee
The Special Events Committee works with the Executive Director to coordinate several large scale events for the membership. Their purpose is to make important planning decisions, secure sponsorships and increase attendance at each event. Events coordinated by this committee include:
- Installation Dinner (August)
- Race Judicata (October/April)
- Charity Bowling (November)
- Holiday Party (December)
- Trivia Night (February)
- Wiffleball/Spring Picnic (April)

Professinalism Committee
The Professionalism Committee works to emphasize and promote the importance ofprofessionalism issues by recognizing and rewarding those who exemplify professionalism in the legal community. Each year, the professionalism committee is comprised of prior professionalism award winners (judges & lawyers), who determine winners in the following categories; private lawyer, government lawyer, non-lawyer, Judge T. Mitchell Barlow young lawyer, and Clarence T. Johnson Lifetime Achievement lawyer; which culminates at the annual Professionalism Awards & Dinner. This committee includes: President-Elect (No other Board Members will be part of this committee); 2 Members of the Judiciary; and 4 Previous Professionalism Winners
Budget & Finance Committee
The primary responsibility of the Budget & Finance Committee is to work with the Board and Executive Director to ensure the fiscal health of the association through proper financial oversight so that there are adequate resources for the organization to fulfill its mission. **This committee will also be responsible for updating dues, fees, sponsorship levels, business partner levels and advertising fees.**
Diversity & Inclusion Committee
The Diversity & Inclusion Committee is dedicated to implementing a yearly Diversity and Inclusion Plan. The work of the committee promotes historically underrepresented groups to enter and stay in the profession of law. The committee does this through collaborative relationships and community building activities which highlight the numerous societal benefits of a diverse law profession.

Student Events Committee
The Student Events Committee works with the Executive Director and is responsible for organizing and implementing the following:
Law Week Contests & Dinner (Feb – May)Committee needs to contact all schools and teachers in February; fundraising for award sponsors & luncheon sponsors in Feb/Mar; and planning luncheon for May (prior to schools dismissing for the summer).
Mock Trial (Nov – Feb)Committee need to contact all schools, create teams and make sure all teams have a coach; fundraising for the event starts early to guarantee teachers stipend; and main competition is held in February over 3 days.

Young Lawyers Liaison Committee
The Yong Lawyer Liaison Committee works for the improvement of communication and collaboration between the Young Lawyers Division and the bar. This committee is responsible for attending & promoting YLD monthly happy hours and YLD charitable giving efforts throughout the year.
Judicial Liaison Committee
The Judicial Liaison Committee Works for the improvement of the legal and judicial systems through cooperation with the judiciary by serving as liaison between the bench and bar. This committee is also responsible for coordinating any investitures and/or judicial retirements throughout the year.
Health & Wellness Committee
The Health & Wellness Committee is dedicated to implementing a yearly health & wellness plan to provide to the membership. The work of the committee promotes a well-rounded healthier lifestyle inthe profession of law, including a focus on mental health. The committee does this through monthly health & wellness initiatives.

Publication Committee
The Publication Committee is responsible for the editorial decision-making of the BCBA’s officialpublication, the Ex Parte. This committee works to ensure the content engages, excites, and informs its readers—all active members of the BCBA. Committee members may identify and develop article topics, write articles themselves or identify and recruit authors, and review and critique issues of the publication. They work with the Executive Director to produce the publication on a bi-monthly basis, develop editorial policy, and guide the BCBA in relaying its own news.
